“The Climb” An Animated Short by Alex Deaton & Preston Gibson

“This is a project my friend and I have worked on for months, based on an absurdist joke I thought of a few years ago and couldn’t shake. Both of us wanted to push our abilities as far as possible.”

“We fleshed out a character design, modeled him in C4D, textured him using redshift and substance painter, built a mountain, animated the character by hand on 2s, and composited our butts off to craft something exquisitely silly.”

Clinging to a frosty mountain side, a lone climber faces the elements while battling his inner demons. Will he survive? Will he reach the summit? Do you even care even at all even? A film that examines the burning question of our time: when life presents challenges, how will we respond?
