Local Political Commercials Can Actually Be Decent - @AnastasisFilms

Here's a new video for Lewis Reed, a candidate for mayor against the incumbent Slay. Now, by no means is this "the best political commercial" that we've ever seen, but that's not the point. The point is that this a completely different feeling video, especially in the local arena, versus the typical attack ads with gloomy visuals and large stats portraying the evils of such and such candidate.

Whether it's his campaign manager, Anastasis Films or Reed himself, we're pleased with the concept behind this piece that does far more in communicating who Lewis Reed is than spouting pointless facts and criticisms on the current administration.

What does it take to lead? Is it just about power? Photo ops? Ribbon-cutting?
I don't think so. Leadership is about hard work, sacrifice, and vision. Seeing what's good and fighting to make it better. Everyone in our city has something to offer. Every neighborhood matters. Lewis Reed understands that.
That's why Lewis Reed is running... running for mayor.

It seems like these guys are kind of a one trick pony with the "earnest-guy-speaking-in-platatudes-over-DSLR-footage." schtick. It's gonna get kinda old after a while.

One more observation--in a political ad it's aways a bad idea to have a shot of the candidate running away from the camera. It's really not a good visual metaphor in a political ad.

A quick look at their other work suggests otherwise: http://www.anastasisfilms.com/portfolio

Nice try, Mayor Slay.

A quick looks of their other work suggests that this and music montages are the only styles they've perfected. Everything else looks like sophmore film school work.

Well so far their trick has been pretty effective. I’ll let you know when it tires me.
