Shit-Vertising From a Cardinals Minor League Team

To promote a home stand for the Memphis Redbirds, a minor league baseball affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals, Archer Malmo, Memphis covered a car in fake bird droppings and parked it near a busy intersection with a sign that read, “The Redbirds are in town.” Hotdog vending was severely interrupted.

Not sure if that's what you want to link your hometown team with, but it's memorable nonetheless.
