The Dirt Cheap Chicken Turns to Crowdsourcing

/ Comments (8)

If it hasn’t been obvious enough, we aren’t the biggest supporters of design and logo contests sponsored by clients. Regardless, here’s a new one that’s sure to attract some interesting submissions.

If you live around St. Louis, the Dirt Cheap Chicken mascot is one of our local ad super stars — having outlived the likes of Becky Queen of Carpet, Schweig Engel, and others. Sadly the Chicken is fresh out of creative ideas, so now he/she is asking for your creative ideas on behalf of Dirt Cheap, the discount liquor store with the worst commercials yet best chicken-assed logo ever.

Let’s be honest, we’ve all fantasized about making a local ad that’s so terrible it’s terribly good. This could be a golden opportunity to add that legendary piece to your book...

On the other hand the pay is cheap, cheap, but you do get free fun, fun. Actually, there isn't even a cash prize on this one. All you get for helping a crap local business out is the gush of joy you receive from having your spot run on local tv at all hours of the night:

I will run this commercial on TV over a four week stretch later this summer. That means all of your friends will see you during local baseball games!!!

OH MY GOD, during LOCAL baseball games?
We demand that, in the very least, a real prize be awarded for this sham crowd-sourcing crap. Until then, the Chicken is joining our shit list of local companies trying to get free creative work.

View the details on their site.
Let 'em know how you really feel on their Facebook page — we know you're good at voicing your displeasure from previous local crowdsource contests.

Can't They Just Hire a Bad Logo Guy They Know, They've Used Before, or They've Researched(etc., etc., etc.,) and Cut to the Chase?

Butttt it's fuuuuuunnnn to support brands that we already support by purchasing their products!

Right...That's Coming From a Lame Wa Sucka** Director, alright...!

My concept involves killing the Chicken, do you think this with fly?

OMJ.

OMJ. that chicken owns Colorado and the Denver Broncos. He does the chicken dance tailgating at sports authority too...! XD

They gotta be editing comments on their facebook page because we don't see any negative ones yet.

One man's "trash article" is another man's treasure....

I see it as an opportunity to direct a TV commercial, challange your creative juices, and add to your resume....what's wrong with that naysayer?
