Sloup is Helping Creative Projects Get Funded at @LouFestSTL This Sunday
Sloup this month is setting up outside of LouFest for "SloupFest". The premise: local artists submit quick proposals for work they'd like to implement around the community but need a little seed funding. Attendees pay a suggested donation of $10 in exchange for some donated soup (gazpacho at this event), bread and beverages and vote on their favorite proposal. The proposal that gets the most votes receives all of the money from the pot, plus exposure.

This is a fairly quirky yet completely charming idea that's been in existence for awhile now - grassroots fundraising for local creatives all with the power of soup. The organizers wanted to let the community know that proposals can be sent up until today for consideration at the Sloup event on Sunday. Also, the winners of the slouping don't just receive the suggested donation pot but also includes donations from external donors, so the prize pot can end up being fairly substantial.
