Waylon Does Indeed Close; Kuhl/Swaine Rises From Ashes

And to put a cap in the proverbial ass of the most exciting STL Ad Agency news we've had all week, Waylon has indeed closed their doors. Fret not, for another more exciting advertising agency has arisen like a glimmering, iridescent phoenix from behind the defunct doors of Waylon, taking off with the clients of their former employers tucked into their gangly newborn claws (we dropped some acid during lunch today). Behold... Kuhl/Swaine.

It's actually sort of refreshing to have a new agency startup that doesn't have some random, crappy verb for a name. Also of interest is the unique name-splitting convention of the forward-slash, in delightful contrast compared to the ampersand of Osborn&Barr and the erect slash of Hoffman | Lewis.

“This is something we’ve been thinking about since we worked together on the (Budweiser) frogs (ad campaign),” Kuhl said.
Well, there's no time like 16 years later, eh?

Join us in welcoming Kuhl/Swaine to the community. Don't let us down boys.

Thanks to the St. Louis Business Journal who is apparently more on top of secret Agency news than we are; although we did have some great mysterious tweeting going on.

Apparently it was a quick close, via the Forum:
Closed on Monday. No notice, no severance, 6 days of insurance left (at the time), no cobra. Craziness. Better for all, most likely.

This shit is written hilarious for ad news.

Nothing like returning from my honeymoon, turning on my phone for the first time in a week, and piecing together the demise of my (now former) employer via a frenzied string of text messages.

Eh. Like you said, better for all. Anyone want to meet me for a drink?

Best wishes Kuhl/Swain! Lookin' forward to seeing some awesome projects from your new group of creative genius!
