ALIVE Magazine

Responsibilities include:
• Oversight of editorial design department for the magazine
• Layout for all editorial pages of the magazine, which can include managing design work of student interns
• Conceptualize feature layouts and photography direction with editors
• Management of all photography for the magazine, including building and maintaining photographer relationships, assigning all photography and illustrations and collecting art
• Execution of photo shoots--hiring of crew, scheduling, location scouting with photographers, day-of coordination
• Some creation of branding materials for signature events
• Hire and oversee graphic design and photography interns
• Hire freelance photographers and illustrators
• Manage monthly art budget
• Procure and style props for shoots as needed
• Oversee uploading of magazine to printer to bring magazine to press
• Oversee web graphics production, digital issue upload to the site and online photo galleries processes

Requirements& Qualifications
• 2+ years of relevant experience; 3+ preferred
• Passion for magazine design and production
• Fluent knowledge of InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop (CS4 or later)
• Organized, with strong project management skills, including timelines, task lists and budgets
• Process- and detail-oriented
• Ability to manage multiple projects, with frequent deadlines
• Degree in graphic design or magazine journalism design
• Visual eye for photography, layout and typography
