Ask The Egotist Whatever You Want
Welcome to the interactive portion of the St. Louis Egotist where you, the reader, ask us, the Egotists, absolutely anything you want. Who, What, When, Where, Why; there are no restrictions and nothing is off limits. What we're attempting to do with this little experiment is to open up the backstage curtains just a little bit so you can get a peak at the tiny and reluctant wizards of Oz we really are - obviously without completely divulging who we are.
We’ll choose the 10 questions under this post from our readers that we find most interesting and answer them for you around this time next week.
Wanna play? Give us your best shot.

I'll bite: Where did you go to high school?
Boxers or briefs?
How much do you make running the site, from ad revenue or job postings... how much goes to you and how much to egotist HQ?
How old are you? (you being the person who runs this)... and how many agencies have you worked at (if any)?
Is that your real picture?
Hey Anons,
Do you, collectively as the stl egotist, follow yourselves, as individual anonymous people, on twitter?
Your writing is constantly filled with punchy undertones and immature humor; your critiques are often snarky and seem to be backed by little acknowledgement of potential strategy or positioning. Do you think this style of writing does anything to help position the St. Louis advertising industry as a bright, sharp and upstanding creative entity? Or do you just find this style of writing relevant to the ‘creative scene,’ much in the same way some would find it relevant and appropriate to wear sweatpants and an Elmo t-shirt five days a week because of a ‘creative license’?
Your website seems like it may be the key for advertising students to learn a wealth of information about the St. Louis Advertising industry. However, much of your content is similar to the average aspiring art director’s twitter feed as he provides topline two-cent comments, “enjoying” or “disliking” local and national campaigns that are currently floating around the web. Much of this work isn’t even relevant to St. Louis advertising. Do you think there might be an opportunity for more in-depth pieces on St. Louis ad agencies; A better exploration of their work, their clients, their office, their employees, etc?
Does any of your staff have relevant agency experience to help substantiate their critiques, or are the majority of them aspiring copywriters? Do you think this information might be relevant to include on your site?
It's "this time next week".
We're extending that deadline so everyone can have time to step up to the mic and get their questions out there.
Why don't more agencies/firms/freelancers submit work to the site? Who wouldn't want to show off and brag about a recently completed project that they are super proud of doing? There's only a few agencies who seem to regularly promote their work.
@Megan,
I know plenty of people that have and don't get featured. I think the writers chose not to feature certain people/agencies based on their personal tastes towards them.
@Random It's based off our combined tastes of what we think is good work; We're drawn to promoting the very good and very bad. No one has time these days to look at mediocre things.
Regarding personal tastes towards individuals or agencies, you couldn't be more wrong and we've proven this time and time again.
Who do you think we're "against"?
Are you guys chained to this format by the Egotist Network? I hope not because I can think of at least 5 mid-sized area sites that do nearly the exact same thing (and 10+ small). I know, I know, it's an easily understood format and people just "get it". But, the problem is that they've already got it and they have it from 5 mid-sized, 10+ small and at least 3 of the larger (more professional, well funded) sites. And that's just local (STL).

We know, we know. We're getting to it...
