  • 20th Century Fox Gets a 21st Century Facelift

    / Comments (0)

21st Century Fox from 21st Century Fox on Vimeo.

20th Century Fox is the latest to undergo a branding enhancement that has led to an extremely flat logo design. The entertainment giant is also undergoing a name change as the company splits off from its publishing siblings in the wake of the phone hacking and tapping scandal that rocked Rupert Murdoch's news empire, NewsCorp.

The new branding duties were handled by the fine people at New York design giant, Pentagram. As the trend towards “flat design” continues to take hold we've seen a huge number of companies jumping to the more minimalist style for their branding. The resulting logo definitely puts a more modern face on the company, but we're going to miss the iconic music and logo that has served the entertainment giant so well over the past several decades.

  • Kegs With Legs #4: Thursday, May 30th @BrutonStroube

    / Comments (0)

We know, we know... it's only the second hot day we've had so far, your coworkers are driving you absolutely bat-shit crazy and you're already wondering when the next Kegs with Legs is going to be so you can meet some different people at another local studio for once… fret not oh young squires & maidens for we've the pleasure of announcing that the next event will take place in Bruton Stroube's brand new studio/drinking hall down on Locust *sound the ram horns and lutes*.

Kegs With Legs #4: Bruton Stroube

Pardon our awful themed-copywriting, but this event looks to easily supersede all previous Kegs With Legs and go straight medieval on all of our collective asses. Seriously, just look at the details:

    • FIVE Different Local Beer Kegs. Yes, FIVE.
    • A phucking Phantom Photo Booth for Super Slo-Mo Portraits.
    • Hand-Crafted Snacks
    • DJ Mahf
    • And more…

Don't take our word that this is going to be one helluva time. Take our namesake, Saint Louis hisself writing a bedazzled keg. That's right. Back from the dead, riding that trusty beer steed for one night only.

Here's what: All we did was put this creative community party-platform out there for all of you, and Bruton Stroube simply just injected some steroids into the muhfukka.
We hope to see you there friends.

Amy's Baking Company Bakery Boutique & Bistro (quite the name) out of Scottsdale, Arizona was featured on Chef Gordon Ramsay's show Kitchen Nightmares. It didn't go well. After the show's airing, people started flooding the restaurant's Facebook page with fake reviews — and that's when the real nightmare began with the owner's verbal backlash against humanity. Come witness one of the finest social media meltdowns ever.

Here's a good idea for an event to capture the local interest in a new platform. It's much less time consuming than the 48 hour film challenge and much easier to enter. And it's probably going to be much more enjoyable to view the final results.

  • The Art of Data Visualization - @PBSOffBook

    / Comments (0)

Every installment from the PBS Off Book series is just amazing. If you're looking for a short, five to seven minute introduction to today's creative fields, then this series is the one to check out. This installment is on one of our deep loves: Data viz and the organization and presentation of complex data structures.

Humans have a powerful capacity to process visual information, skills that date far back in our evolutionary lineage. And since the advent of science, we have employed intricate visual strategies to communicate data, often utilizing design principles that draw on these basic cognitive skills. In a modern world where we have far more data than we can process, the practice of data visualization has gained even more importance. From scientific visualization to pop infographics, designers are increasingly tasked with incorporating data into the media experience. Data has emerged as such a critical part of modern life that it has entered into the realm of art, where data-driven visual experiences challenge viewers to find personal meaning from a sea of information, a task that is increasingly present in every aspect of our information-infused lives.
